VACUUM individual DB files and enable/disable auto_vaccum drop indices which I strongly believe are not used in LMS you think LMS usage (NOT the scanner!) is slow you have a server machine with a couple of gigabytes of RAM you are willing to take the risk of applying some little tested

you have a decent collection of 20k+ tracks Thank you very much, i really appreciate your help, but, please don't get me wrong because i'm not judging your suggestion, i'm decided to buy a NAS not only because of the backup's, but also because of the features.I'd like to better understand how we could tune the LMS database to I know it's different, but the first one that i've seen was the WD My Cloud (which has more features) and i could buy the 2TB version for only 106€/$134.97 (the best prices i found was exactly on the Western Digital's official store(!) -132.91€/$169.23- and it can be cheaper (the 106€ is because they have discounts for students and my girlfriend's still in college) but from what I read, they are very limited compared to Synology and Qnap. That's why i'm towards to one of these last 2. You guys are almost convincing me to buy a 2 bay drive lol In that case, the only option is the Synology DS214se because is cheaper than the others 2 drive bay models from Synology and the Qnap doesn't apply because of the size. These are the best prices I have found and still maybe too much money for what i really need. The Synology DLNA server is decent for music. It allows a lot of flexibility in how you configure it for sorting stuff. I just used the canned "advanced" style as it suits my needs.
Minimserver scan series#
One nice thing about it is that it has a series of recently added lists which allows quick access to new content it also automagically indexes content as you add it, this has it's pluses and minuses.
Minimserver scan plus#
On the plus side it means that you don't have to reindex every time you add an album, on the minus side, I use Amazon to buy a lot of CD's and if they have an autorip copy that gets loaded into iTunes right away - so I can get instant gratification.

When the CD arrives a couple of days later and I delete the MP3's they are not erased from the server's database, so to clean things up a reindex is necessary at that time. It transcodes to WAV effectively, but messes with the metadata which is transmitted to the player so that song titles appear as "song name.wav" which I personally don't like. To get around this I also run MinimServer on my Synology which handles metadata correctly for streaming to my devices which do not support ALAC.
Minimserver scan update#
You need to buy a licence and update from Twonky Downloads V8.4 (QNAPx86_64) MinimServer needs a manual rescan done each time you add content, though.Note: TwonkyMedia is not supported by QNAP on QNAP firmware QTS4.3 and later. TWONKY ISSUES Twonky Media music greyed out or will not play If you are looking at the Music and the Music cannot be added to the Playlist or is grayed out. But you may if you go to a PC/Mac and this does allow the same Music (or vice-versa) you will probably also using Twonkymedia. The solution is to go in the Twonky Settings > Advanced > Media receivers and RESET LIST. Now retry the iPad Kazoo and it will probably now work. The Music tree can only be easily edited in Twonky4. Twonky5 and Twonky6 require XML file editing.ġ.

Once opened, select the Spanner icon, this will open the Twonky configurationĢ.Ĝlick on “first steps” – change to “Advanced default navigation” Save changes.ģ.Ĝlick on “Sharing”, in the Content locations section, select the “Browse” button to select your Music locationĤ.Ĝhange “Rescan in minutes” to 0. This means that a manual scan has to be promoted when any media is added. (This can normally be initiated by a desktop shortcut with “ )ĥ. Go back to “first steps” tab and click “Restart” tab and wait for server to restartĦ.Ĝlick on “Maintenance” and “Rebuild database”. Twonky will now start from scratch and build to database ready for the DS to use. Twonky 7&8 can be changed using the Tree navigational Builder within Setup.ġ. Once opened, select the Setings icon, this will open the Twonky configurationĢ.Ĝlick on “Advanced” and Change “Rescan interal” to 0. Tap Browse (from the bottom) this should take you to the top-level NAS structure made available by MinimServer. (Here I've created a folder called Radio. Inside this folder is a single M3U for each radio station I want to play/pin. (This can normally be initiated by a desktop shortcut with “ )Ĥ.Ĝheck that under Devices, get more detail and check your PC/Mac/iPhone/iPad have been selected as either "Generic Media Receiver" or "Linn Kinsky Desktop control point" with your Music tree selecton.
